OPEN SOURCE COMPETITION: MODERN ADMINISTRATION. INNOVATION. DIGITAL SOVEREIGNTY
The Federal Association for Digital Sovereignty – Open Source Business Alliance (OSBA) calls on public administrations at the federal, state, and municipal levels, public companies, institutions from the social economy (NGOs), and educational institutions to participate in this year's Open Source competition.
They are looking for pioneering projects that promote innovation, digital sovereignty, and resilience using Open Source Software (OSS). Participants are invited to present their innovative approaches to administrative processes and exchange ideas with others – both with other administrations and the Open Source community. The submission deadline is June 30, 2025. The award ceremony will take place on October 2, 2025, at the Smart Country Convention.
The competition is supported by the Association of the Open Source Economy, the Center for Digital Sovereignty (ZenDiS), SUSE (a technical organizer and Open Source software provider), and Capgemini.
The Open Source competition includes three categories:
- Specialized Procedures:
OSS solutions for administrative services for citizens and companies (e.g., digital application procedures). - Internal Administrative Applications:
Tools for optimizing internal processes (e.g., document management, collaborative platforms). - Transformation:
Holistic strategies for digital administrative modernization (e.g., AI, cloud platforms).
A project can be submitted in a maximum of two categories. For the final round, a maximum of three projects per category will be selected by an independent jury from the Open Source community, administration, science, and business. The selected entries can present themselves at the Smart Country Convention. The final award ceremony will take place at the event afterwards
