Co-creating with companies

Both the state of Berlin, the federal government and the European Union offer a variety of programs on thematic priorities such as energy, mobility and ICT, as well as other current challenges facing the smart cities of tomorrow. Often there are specific submission deadlines or other access requirements that need expert knowledge. We therefore work closely with the cluster experts at the Economic Development Agency.

Berlin has decided on the first sustainability strategy for the entire city. The strategy adapts the implementation of the 2030 Agenda to Berlin’s specific context. As part of its efforts to digitize its public administration, Berlin is relying on a new platform: The GovTech Berlin Unit specifically matches the needs of Berlin’s public administration with companies from the capital’s GovTech ecosystem, thereby serving as a bridge between the two.

2026 Open Source Competition Launched

This year’s Open Source Competition is all about “Modern Administration. Innovation. Digital Sovereignty.” Government agencies at all levels, as well as public companies and institutions, are invited to submit projects that reflect this theme. The competition is organized by the Open Source Business Alliance (OSBA). The deadline for submissions is June 30, 2026.
