The Berliner Wasserbetriebe secures the drinking water supply for 3.6 million Berliners and cleans the city's wastewater with the latest technology. We pay particular attention to the ecologically, economically, and socially sustainable management of the water cycle.

In order to fulfil this task while making optimal use of resources and changing framework conditions, we are developing innovative procedures and solutions for the challenges of today and those we expect in the future. We are the only company in the industry to have a certified research department to identify and handle research topics in close collaboration with our operating divisions.

We address all topics relating to the sustainable management of the urban water cycle, from water management to drinking water treatment and wastewater treatment to sludge treatment. In addition, Berliner Wasserbetriebe is supporting the development of Berlin into a smart city and looking beyond its processes. The focus is on climate protection, energy efficiency, and safety.

We benefit from networking with partners in Germany and abroad and bundle our expertise to find innovative solutions to important questions and operational problems. The cooperation in research projects also drastically shortens development times and helps secure long-term investment decisions.
