Smart Life Lab

The "Smart Life Lab" was launched in 2006 by the Federal Ministry of Economics (BMWi) and Energy and Prof. Sahin Albayrak as part of the "SerCHo" (Service Centric Home) research funding project as Europe's first model apartment based on the Internet of Things (IoT). For 10 years now, the showroom has enabled a broad public and specialist delegations to experience innovative solutions for connected life in a real residential environment. The more than 11,000 visitors to date and the enormous interest in the "Smart Life Lab" demonstrated the need to establish a sustainable form of organisation in order to facilitate cross-sector cooperation to open up the market. Nine years ago, with the support of the BMWi, the Connected Living e. V. Innovation Centre with its currently more than 65 members was established.
