Marienfelde Quarter Mariengrün

The complete refurbishment and redesign of the quarter was intended to create a completely new attitude to life for the residents. To this end, the residential units that were built between 1968 and 1974 were modernised and energetically refurbished. The goal: a generation park that offers people of different ages and lifestyles a home. With the involvement of neighbourhood management, an overall concept was developed which will receive the prize of the Berlin-Brandenburg Housing Association (Verband Berlin-Brandenburgischer Wohnungsunternehmen e. V. - BBU) in 2014.

The energy concept led to a 70% reduction in CO₂ emissions. The two newly constructed CHPs support the heat and power supply in Mariengrün in an economical, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly way. The heat requirement was reduced by renewed windows, insulated roofs and cellar ceilings clearly. This not only benefits the climate, but also the tenants, who benefit from lower operating costs. Large photovoltaic systems were also installed on the multi-storey car parks.
