In order to limit the emission of air pollutants as well as greenhouse gases and thus reducing the anthropogenic greenhouse gas effect, requirements for the maritime and inland waterway travels increased considerably regarding the exhaust gas emissions in the past few years. The research project ‘ELEKTRA‘ is therefore involved in developing an energy efficient hybrid-operated inland push boat. This project shows the hydrogen- and fuel cell technology in interaction with accumulators on inland push boats with the aim to evaluate this technology under real conditions.
