A further flagship project is the third-biggest long-distance station in the captial: The Südkreuz, also called the „Station of the future“. The Deutsche Bahn is testing  sustainable mobility and power supply concepts there. Power gets produced due to solar cell and wind turbines on the roof. The Smart Grid stores it and passes the power along to different applications like e-bikes, e-cars or the first e-bus bus line of the BVG. In addition, they are experimenting with "intelligent lockers" - both for wheels to protect them from theft and even to store a suitcase, as well as food, including refrigeration. In order to create the Smart Grid they implemented the know-how which was gained at the Euref-Campus.
