Lisa (Guidance- and Information System Waste Water) in Friedrichshain

This project was developed by the Berliner Wasserbetriebe in cooperation with the Faculty of Meteorology at the FU Berlin and the Konrad-Zuse-Zentrum für Informationstechnik Berlin.  This new Guidance- and Information System Waste Water facilitates the capacities of waste water treatment plants to be used more effectively. It is due to this system that the currently 148 waste water pump stations, 52 rain water reservoirs and a further 106 plants operated under contract in the surrounding areas can now be controlled centrally and in an automated fashion. The smart system is in a position to recognise overloads in the local sewer system and guides dirt water to those areas that are not overloaded respectively show more capacities. It is for this system that considerably less dirt is introduced into waters (Spree and Havel) by using rain water overflows.
