Berlin TXL - The Urban Tech Republic

The Airport Tegel will be closed half year after the opening of the international airport Berlin Brandenburg in Berlin Schönefeld (BER). In order to design the area of the former airport smart the project „Berlin TXL -  The Urban Tech Republic“ was developed by Tegel Projekt GmbH. The Urban Tech Republic will be home of the merger of different companies, startups and research facilities. They will do research and manufactures in sectors as sustainable building, eco-friendly mobility, recycling, sustainable future technologies and clean water. This future research and industrial park will cover a total area of 211 hectare with space for up to 1,000 companies and 20,000 jobs. Even universities will play a major role in the research center. With more than 2,500 students the Beuth University of Applied Sciences will have a place within the technology park. According to an empirica AG survey a yearly gross value added of 1.3 billions € could be realistic.
