The "See-Meile"-Project in Berlin

The See-Meile Berlin is the first highly automated minibus in the public street space. After a six-month test phase in 2019, during which the minibus ran on the route between Tegel underground station and the lake terraces in August 2019, it will be available again from summer 2020. A total of 3 highly automated electric buses can be used along the Greenwichpromenade.

Since June 29, 2021, the familiar See-Meile route has once again been operated by a highly automated minibus under route number 328A. In addition, there is a new line 328B: It runs in the adjacent residential area, passes intersections, a traffic circle and takes passengers to the pedestrian zone Alt-Tegel. Two additional stops have been added to this line as of October 4, 2021, and it will be operated with two shuttles.

In addition to the technical testing of the innovative technology under real urban traffic conditions, the aim is also to introduce the urban population to the new mode of public transport.  The project partners hope to gain important insights, for example into traffic safety.

In addition, the bus can be a possibility for the fine development of neighbourhoods in terms of mobility. For example, the route in Tegel will include sections that can only be covered on foot in some cases.
