Energy Efficiency and Climate Protection: Coordination Office Launches in Berlin

KEK –  these three letters represent a new offer of the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises. The Coordination Office for Energy Efficiency and Climate Protection in Business (KEK) will focus in particular on helping SMEs integrate energy efficiency and climate protection into their planning and processes, in a neutral and  less bureaucratic manner. The KEK’s services are free of charge.

“How do I best tackle energy efficiency and climate protection?” Most larger companies have already dealt with this vital question at length and initiated measures accordingly. Small and medium-sized enterprises, on the other hand, often find it challenging to integrate energy efficiency and climate protection into their planning and processes. Now, help is at hand for Berlin’s SMEs: the Coordination Office for Energy Efficiency and Climate Protection in Business (KEK), initiated by the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises, launched in late February, and supports SMEs in particular in taking concrete steps – with no unnecessary bureaucracy and free of charge.

The KEK’s service offer comprises several components

  • Basic consulting: Companies obtain general information on energy efficiency and climate protection as well as on suitable funding programmes.

  • Detailed consulting for SMEs: In customised consultations, the KEK helps SMEs identify energy efficiency and climate protection potentials, clearly define project ideas and assess the profitability of possible measures.

  • Exchange and networking opportunities: Round tables and energy efficiency and climate protection networks help companies exchange ideas with experts and like-minded people and exploit synergies.

Support for SMEs: Individual and neutral, with no unnecessary bureaucracy and free of charge

With the wide-ranging KEK offer, the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises aims to help Berlin’s businesses embrace energy efficiency and climate protection. Together with the KEK, companies can identify and utilize savings potentials, which not only save resources in the medium term but also significantly reduce energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions – a benefit for the companies, and for all of Berlin.
