Smart City Berlin: First Official Visit at Red City Hall

Since the end of 2021, Berlin has a new Senate and a new Governing Mayor in Franziska Giffey. Good reason for the Smart City Berlin Network to visit Franziska Giffey in the Rotes Rathaus (Red City Hall).

The spokespersons of the Smart City Berlin Network, Claudia Rathfux and Dr. Thomas Letz, as well as Beate Albert, Head of Smart Cities at Berlin Partner, congratulated Franziska Giffey on her election  and introduced the network with its numerous activities to her.  Also present was State Secretary Dr. Ralf Kleindiek, who as the new Chief Digital Officer (CDO) - in addition to tasks such as administrative modernisation - is also responsible for the further development of Smart City Berlin.

The intensive, 90-minute exchange focused, among other things, on the continuation of the Smart City Strategy, which is part of the federally funded "Modellprojekte Smart Cities" ("Smart Cities Model Projects") programme. Specific approaches to making Berlin smarter and how this can be made more visible and tangible in the city were also discussed. The group also agreed on even closer cooperation and joint actions.

Further visits of the Berlin Smart City Network - for example to the new Senate's Building Director Petra Kahlfeldt, or to the Head of the Berlin Senate Chancellery, Dr. Severin Fischer - are planned for the upcoming weeks.

The Smart City Berlin Network is looking forward to working together in the future!
