“Mall Anders": Everyone can join in!
Stop by, learn, discuss: The "Mall Anders" is an "open learning lab" that FU Berlin, HU Berlin, TU Berlin and Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin have opened in an unusual environment: Right in the middle of the consumer environment of a shopping mall, students and scientists enter into an uncomplicated dialog with urban society. Project proposals are welcome.
The architecture of the "Mall Anders" in Charlottenburg's "Wilma Shopping" mall is already designed with sustainability in mind, as the entire interior was redesigned by students of the TU Berlin using the leftovers of the previous tenant. But not only circular economy, also smart city topics such as the challenges of modern urban planning or digitalization are popular on the agenda of the "temporary test field for learning, discussing, experimenting and exploring" which opened in December 2021 and will go into the second round in March.
"The starting point for the project was the idea of rethinking science communication for once and entering into direct dialogue with urban society," says Dr. Thorsten Philipp, Head of Transdisciplinary Teaching at the TU Berlin's Presidential Board and also one of the project's initiators and coordinators. The "Mall Anders" is an initiative of the four players represented in the Berlin University Alliance (BUA) Technische Universität Berlin (TU Berlin), Freie Universität Berlin (FU Berlin) and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU Berlin) - including Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin.
Anyone who would like to present a scientific topic in the open learning lab can apply. Simply send an e-mail to email@example.com
