Carré Mobility wins German Mobility Award 2020

Sharing has become very popular in the context of mobility – especially in urban centres like Berlin. The benefits: no annoying search for a parking space, no expensive new purchases or repairs, more efficient use of existing capacities and the conservation of the environment. Whether bicycle, freight bicycle, electric scooter or electric car – the range offered by commercial service providers is now extensive. In addition, there are also private road users, who like to share their vehicles with others. The Carré Mobility platform is the first sustainable and social digital solution to connect such offers with a pooling option and a “bring-along” service in local neighbourhoods. Carré Mobility GmbH, based in Berlin and Rüsselsheim am Main, has now received the German Mobility Award 2020 for their innovative idea.

Pilot project – the Mierendorff neighbourhood

One of the first cooperation partners of Carré Mobility is the Kiezfreund project in the Mierendorff neighbourhood of Berlin-Charlottenburg. Local residents can use the Carré Mobility-App to have their shopping and other errands done. Daily necessities can be ordered directly from local business partners or open requests can be posted. The goods are then delivered by either the local community or a professional “Kiezfreund” (neighbourhood friend). The aim of the project is a sustainable and social mobility for all. Until the end of August this project was in its test phase. But work on concrete neighbourhood-related ordering and payment solutions is already underway – with Carré Mobility as a partner, amongst others.

“By opening up new ways and offering new, sustainable mobility, Carré Mobility has the potential to connect people from Mierendorff-INSEL with each other and with local businesses. This can be an important contribution to building up a community across generations, ensuring the security of supply and promoting sustainability.,” explains Rolf Mienkus, Managing Director of UG, who initiated the “Kiezfreund” project as part of the BMBF research project DISTRIBUTE together with the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf District Office and a mobility partner.
