Zentrum Technik und Gesellschaft / TU Berlin

The Center for Technology and Society (ZTG) is a research institution of the TU Berlin. The ZTG addresses current societal problems and topics in the area of tension between technology and society and works on them together with scientists from various disciplines and practitioners from civil society, industry or government institutions.

Through the inter- and transdisciplinary perspective, social, legal, economic and user-specific concerns are integrated into innovation and transformation processes from the very beginning, thus placing technological and planning design processes on a broader basis. Due to its many years of experience in carrying out such projects, the ZTG has developed into a competence center for methods of inter- and transdisciplinary research.

One of the central tasks of the ZTG is to facilitate interdisciplinary dialogues, to stimulate and manage inter- and transdisciplinary research, and to jointly develop research projects with practitioners. For this purpose, methods are used that involve the scientifically accompanied testing of solution elements in practice already during the project period - following approaches such as reallabs, future workshops and citizen science. Many projects on mobility, sustainable land use, urban development, energy and climate as well as security and critical infrastructures directly benefit the regional environment.
