Panel talks, workshops, a packed programme on several stages - and many enthusiastic visitors: This year's summer festival of CityLAB Berlin in the "Greifswald" location offered plenty of highlights. It was a complete success!

There was celebration, information and much discussion. Berlin's new CDO Martina Klement also stopped by and opened the "Kiezlabor" with a speech: the new Berlin Tiny House for digital transformation will soon be traveling through the city. And at the meet-up on the Gemeinsam Digital: Berlin (Together: Digital: Berlin) strategy, there was a lot of inter-agency dialog on the measures being developed as part of the new smart city and digital strategy for Berlin in a relaxed atmosphere.

CIRCULAR CITY CHALLENGE: CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS ENDS 1 OCTOBER

As part of the Circular City Challenge, Berlin, Munich, Stuttgart, Vienna, Hamburg and Leipzig, along with the municipalities of Zeuthen, Ringsheim and the Lippe district, are looking for innovative solutions in the field of circular economies. Enterprises and organisations that are working on visionary concepts are welcome to take part.

PUBLIC SURVEY ON REGULATORY SANDBOX ACT LAUNCHE

The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action has initiated a public consultation process to develop an act on regulatory sandboxes. The survey aims to define uniform and innovation-friendly framework conditions for environments in which to test new ideas.

Five Deep Tech Stars were awarded for particularly innovative, deep-tech-based products and solutions at the Spindler & Klatt event location on 6 July. The Deep Tech Awards took place for the eighth time in Berlin.

KIEZBOX 2.0 – AN AUTONOMOUS INFO STRUCTURE IN THE EVENT OF CRISIS

How can Berlin provide its residents with local information in the event of a large-scale power outage? Kiezbox 2.0 aims to strengthen Berlin’s resilience should a catastrophe arise. In 2021 Berlin businesses invested more than €3 billion in research and development. And it paid off: almost half of the companies launched innovations, according to the 2022 Innovation Survey recently published by TSB.
